Never try and take a nap with your kids or at least my kids. I don't know who did it but I'm pretty sure the little girl was the instigator. Henry let me know what happened but it was in his room so I don't know what to believe.
Ketchup, a large bottle, all over Henry's room. I spent three hours cleaning and it still wasn't done. The kids had to sit and watch. I'm not sure what they thought but I wasn't letting them out of my sight at that point. I wasn't even angry, I was just too surprised to be angry.
Made dinner, and played Hullabaloo
for an hour. The kids behaved fine and were fun to play with. Go figure. Mommy and Daddy need a lot more energy to keep up with these two.
We got a new neighbor not to terribly long ago. He's a nice enough guy, quiet, not around much. However, he doesn't seem to do lawn work. His fiance does it. She doesn't live there. Weird. Just a little bit ago she was bagging leaves in the snow while the guy who lived there went to church and dinner with his folks. Weird. I went to help her and a guy across the road with a truck volunteered his truck to take the leaves to the city drop off. The end result is that we were able to save her a ton of time. One more on odd thing, the neighbor has a truck. Him and his fiance could have raked and dropped off the leaves in a half hour if he had helped.
We spent the day at Playworld with the kids. We were hoping to tire them out so they would take naps before we went over to Melissa's parents house. They still didn't take naps. They were a problem at Melissa's parents. It gets kind of frustrating when you look at your kids behavior and feel like you haven't taught them anything.
Thanksgiving at my moms. Kids were pretty good but Grandma made the mistake of letting them play with whiteout and forgetting they had it. No real harm done but it was sure funny I should have gotten a picture but I just didn't think about it. Maybe one of these days I'll get a camera phone and do more of that kind of stuff.
seemed to suggest a worst case scenario of snow all weekend. Now, it seemed unlikely this would happen but it convince me that it was time to begin the fall yard cleanup. Okay, I'm a little late. However, between last night and this morning the kids and I were able to get the bulk of the leaves picked up. If the weather holds out a little longer I can probably mow the lawn one last time since it really does need it before winter.
I uploaded the Quote of the Day stuff from the old side to the new site. They are just blog postings with their own category. I posted them under their original post date but chose noon for the time because I longer have a record of the original.
I also added one of the short and not so useful or detailed unix notes that I had on the old site. I'd like to go over and update some of the others and post them as well. i do not expect anyone will benefit from them but you never know I suppose. Either way, it should simplify things with the sites I maintain.
Henry moved up to the fours classroom and it is not going well. There's a ton of boys in the classroom and the teacher doesn't appear to have much control over them. Henry wasn't exactly an angel in the threes room but the teacher there seemed to be able to keep him reigned in.
Winter is coming and if its a hard one he won't have as much time to go outside. If things don't change in his current classroom than things will not go well. Melissa and I are thinking she may have to keep him home for more of the day and work with him more one on one. We have more problems with Sam at home than Henry. The thing is with his age we'll have to come up with some sort of program for helping him keep up education-wise. I'm not exactly thrilled right now but I'm not sure what else to do.
I finally got Movabletype
setup on this thing. Unfortunately, it took long enough that I won't have time tonight to move some of the junk over from the old site. It isn't a huge deal since no one cares. Not even me, really. I'll get to it eventually though.
We're finally getting some real winter weather. Soon, it'll be snowball fights, snow angels, dragging the kids in the sled, and all kinds of winter fun. It's going to be a great winter!
Now, if the snow would just melt so I can finish raking the leaves and mow the lawn one last time.
is a great site to help you get ready to vote. You really should check it out even if you already know who you are voting for.
The kids and I went to the Christmas party for my mom's side of the family. It was pretty fun, I got a chance to talk to some people I don't see very often and the kids got to play with some different kids. Sammy bonded pretty quick with my cousin Justin's daughter. Sam was pretty disappointed when her new buddy had to go home. Henry did his best playing football with the older kids. It worked out well for the most part. There were a few injuries but he seemed to have fun for the most part. The hard part for him though was that Sammy decided to sing the entire way to Westphalia
and Henry couldn't get a nap in so he was a bit tired during the party.
